Shout with joy to God, all the earth!
Sing the glory of his name;
make his praise glorious!

Its easy to come to church tired or rushed, maybe the journey wasn't easy or the breakfast toast got burned! So that we can get the most out of our time together in church, we should try and make a little time beforehand to ask God to help us listen and take in what He has to say to us. A simple short prayer can help us remember how awesome God is, and how special His love is as a Father. This can help us focus on why we are in church, and to come with expectation. It can also make the words we sing together more real and personal, and in turn we mean what we sing, and sing with more gusto!

Come and listen, all you who fear God;
let me tell you what he has done for me.
I cried out to him with my mouth;
his praise was on my tongue.

And sometimes we all go through hard times, and that can make us distracted or a bit worried before God.

For you, O God, tested us;
you refined us like silver.

These tough times can help shape us, just as metal ore is heated and reheated to remove the impurities which spoil the metal. God knows about these trials, and He is no far off and will not withold His love in any way. God loves us coming to Him no matter how we are feeling!!!

but God has surely listened
and heard my voice in prayer.
Praise be to God,
who has not rejected my prayer
or withheld his love from me!
